Why John Terry Had To Be Dropped As England Captain

Carefree Wherever We May BeThere is uproar amongst many at the removal of John Terry as captain but the timing of the court case has forced the FA’s arm and sadly I believe that they had no choice.

John Terry has the support and backing of FamousCFC.com as Chelsea captain and we do not believe that he is a racist regardless of the outcome of the upcoming court case.

However as England captain he represents the nation, our ideals beyond those simply of football an England captain must be beyond repute acting as a role model and figurehead representing our country.

If a player has a reputation that is in dispute then an individual is not eligible for this position until this is resolved.

We have to accept that the charges against John Terry are very serious for such a public figure and have to be dealt with as such.

For the captaincy I believe that the precedence of innocent until proven guilty is not applicable, the mere implication in criminal proceedings (however bogus) makes him ineligible for the captaincy until they are resolved.

These are not easy things to write given my respect for John Terry and his position with the club but I would share this opinion about any player in these circumstances.

The timing of this all is deeply regrettable and I hope that you will join me in supporting John Terry at the Bridge on Sunday.

Queen’s Park Rangers Vs Chelsea F.C FA Cup 4th Round – LINE UPS

This is set to be a highly contested derby. With matters of alleged racist abuse gaining all the attention, the focus will be fully on John Terry and Anton Ferdinand.

Chelsea lost on their last visit to Loftus Road, with the Blues having two men sent off in the first half; by a ref who has came under question all season.

Both chairmen have issued statements warning fans not to engage in behaviour that will be deemed as unacceptable. The fans will be hyped up all throughout the match and both clubs are hoping to avoid any confrontation outside the stadium.

Chelsea will be touted as favourites for this match, but this does not mean QPR will not threaten throughout. Joey Barton will look to dominate the midfield and possibly try to wind up our players. It is our players job not to react to his mind games.

Gary Cahill looks likely to make his début in this game and with Salomon Kalou and Didier Drogba still on Africa Cup of Nations duty, it again leaves Romelu Lukaku and Fernando Torres in a battle for the centre forward position with Juan Mata and Daniel Sturridge set to provide support on the wings.

Confirmed Chelsea XI-

Cech, Ivanovic, Luiz, Terry, Cole, Ramires, Meireles, Malouda, Sturridge, Torres, Mata.

Racist Chanting – Tiny Minority Give Chelsea Fans Bad Name

Club Statement on the alleged incident

Yesterday Alex Kay of the Daily Mail posted on his Twitter hearing racist chanting from Chelsea fans on the train during his journey back to London from Norwich.

I was not at the game yesterday or on the train where the alleged incident happened however I am not shocked by his claims as I have witnessed them myself.

What is more concerning is that there are reliable reports that the British Transport Police did nothing despite being within earshot of the incident reported to involve 8-10 fans.

It would be easy at this point to adopt a Liverpool style Suarez defence however we are Chelsea fans and don’t live in such a denial bubble.

This may not be a popular admittance but there are racist elements within our support, whilst this behaviour may have been chased out of the stadiums due to effective preventative enforcement.

For this reason you are unlikely to hear these chants on the TV or even within Stamford Bridge.

Instead it rears its ugly head in less visible locations such as bars, on the tube or on this occasion on the train locations.

It is normally just a very vocal handful of people but that does not make it any less of a problem and it should not be ignored.

I do not believe that Chelsea is a racist club or that we have a racist group of supporters, however like all groups of people there exceptions, which in this case sully the name of Chelsea Football Club.

Chelsea however are not the only club to have idiots amongst their support and whilst reported here this should serve as a reminder that work is still to be done across football and society in general.

Let us hope that this tiny minority does not incur any more damage on the name of our club.
