Mourinho For Chelsea? Let the Special One Storm Begin

Last week I spoke about how the shadow of Jose Mourinho was continuing to cast itself over Stamford Bridge and now with the departure of Andre Villas Boas the clamour for the return of Mourinho could become deafening in the coming months.

With Real Madrid set to win La Liga, it could be that Mourinho could be tempted by a return to London with Chelsea, Tottenham and even Arsenal potential destinations for the most consistently successful club manager in the modern game.

There are those clamouring for Mourinho to return to Chelsea and I can understand why, he is the most successful manager we have ever had and created a swagger and winning identity that permeated through the club for years after his departure.

If he was to return he too would be charged with rebuilding the team and removing the ageing elements, many of whom remain from his time in charge and look to create a new winning dynasty.

He would be adored by the fans and comeback as the conquering hero, yet things have changed we are no longer the new kids on the block and the transfer/footballing landscape has changed.

His job would be a lot tougher than the one he achieved at Stamford Bridge during his first spell at the club, he would have fewer resources and may feel that Tottenham or Arsenal offer a greater opportunity to have a free rein.

Then there is the history with Roman Abramovich, would he get the carte blanche he demands or would old wounds quickly reopen?

I don’t know if Mourinho will ever come back to Chelsea but I am sure that we will hear plenty about him in the coming months.
