Would You Continue Playing For England If You Were John Terry?

Yesterday John Terry announced that he would continue to make himself available to be selected for the England national team, despite being dropped as captain for the second time in the light of the criminal charges against him for alleged comments made to Anton Ferdinand.

There is no doubt that our captain is patriotic and loves to play for his country however this is the second time he has been thrown to the wolves by the national team, maybe now is the time to refuse the call.

There are few situations when someone could be treated so badly by an organisation and still be willing to be part of their team.

With a shortage of quality centre backs and leaders in the England that are playing regularly there is no doubt in my mind that his country needs him more than he needs them.

He is abused and booed by England fans, often when he is wearing the three lions which is wildly unacceptable.

So why does he still want to play?

There is obviously a sense of pride and a desire for a faint shot at glory.

The one shining light however is that the only non Chelsea fan that has supported John Terry during this saga is the man that counts Fabio Capello, who has said that he still considers Terry his captain.

This may just about be enough to convince Terry that he should board the plane for Eastern Europe this summer.

A tough decision but many would have hung up their boots in the same situation, I am not sure if I could carry on in his spot, which just shows that there is a lot to be admired in the Chelsea captain.
