Defeat To Aston Villa – Initial Reactions

Despondent, frustrated and upset sum up how I feel at the end of 2011 with Chelsea ending it how they started in a bad run of form and low on ideas.
The result today has been symptomatic of our season so far, dominating the possession and play but lacking a cutting edge. This is interspersed with frequent lapses in concentration across the playing squad that are invariably pounced on by our opposition costing us points.
I really don’t want to dwell on today too much but I attempted to find some but the only one I could think of was Fernando Torres.
He came off the bench and looked sharp at one point hitting the bar, the African Cup of Nations could come at just the right time for the Spaniard as he will shoulder the responsibility to lead the line.
Win or lose up the blue, hopefully 2012 will be a true transitional year.
